Fourth Saturday Open Turning @ the SPW Studio is a hybrid event that can include a more structured workshop along with open turning for anyone not participating in the workshop, space available.  If registering for the workshop, please register by visiting the workshop information, available through a specific workshop event posted on the calendar.  If registering for open turning, just fill out the Reserve My Spot form below.  Please understand that workshop participation has priority and open turning spots are available based on remaining availability.

During these events members come together to explore the art of turning, share projects, and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.  As with all SPW gatherings, if you're feeling unwell or experiencing any symptoms of illness, we respectfully request that you stay home.  Safeguarding everyone's health remains our utmost priority.

Whether you're bringing in your own project or contributing to our fundraising efforts by turning items for various events, this is an opportunity for skill-building and camaraderie.  Members can also arrange to meet fellow enthusiasts during open shop time to collaborate on projects or seek advice.  Not yet a member of SPW?  Feel free to drop by and discover the benefits of joining our community; however, because of insurance requirements, only members can use the equipment to turn.

Fellow SPW member, Ric Erkes, will lead a workshop on making and embellishing weed pots, the same topic presented by Ric as the demo for the morning regular meeting.  Ric's work goes well beyond craft, as he creates some truly incredible art at the lathe.  And his teaching skills match his turning skills.  For those who have had the opportunity to attend a workshop led by Ric, you know that he will not only get you to the end of the project, but he will also improve your turning skills in the process.

BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE.  Ric has also thrown up a challenge.  For every weed pot made by members and donated for our county fair fundraising efforts, Ric will match it with a donated weed pot that he makes.  Folks, this is truly a win-win – a great demo, a workshop led by one of the best, and a way to support the club by making a matched-gift weed pot for the good of the club.  Come out and share in the fun.
