The July meeting was held at our studio in the ClearWater Arts Center on July 25, 2026, with 23 members and guests in attendance. This was a very important meeting, as it was not only our regular monthly meeting but also the Annual Membership Meeting, with 4 main purposes:
- present and vote on any proposed change in Board composition,
- present an annual report,
- elect Officers and At-large Directors,
- and provide an opportunity for members to bring matters of their choosing before the membership for resolution.
At the conclusion of the Annual Membership Meeting, normal monthly business was covered including discussions on:
- event registrations,
- members’ personal galleries,
- vendors’ discounts for members,
- dues clarification,
- and preparations underway for the Cabarrus County Fair, which is September 11-19.
The demonstration this month was presented by Ric Erkes on the topic of Turning and Decorating Weed Pots. He demonstrated multiple ways of turning the pots, along several ways of decorating them – texturing, wire burning, adding color dyes, and using liming wax to dress them up. Following the meeting and after a lunch break, Ric led an afternoon workshop on the same topic that drew six member participants.
